Mehera Shaw, a Fashion House with a Vision, Reconnects Beauty and Humanitarian Practices Through Artisan-Made Prints
(PRWEB) January 14, 2005 -- Increasingly in todays fast-paced world, women want more out of their clothesbeauty, femininity, wearability, and&humanitarian values. In response to this need, entrepreneurs Mark and Shari Keller created the womens clothing line, Mehera Shaw, located in Carrboro, NC. They have termed their business a restoration enterprise." Their mission is to reconnect feminine style with natural beauty and humanitarian trade practices.
Mehera Shaw designer, Shari Keller, reinterprets the beauty of artisan textiles in North India into a line of sophisticated casual wear. The Kellers have combined indigenous heritage crafts such as block printing with natural fabrics such as cotton and a new vision toward fashion. The result? A style of dress which is vibrant, feminine, and uniquely artistic.
Shari comments, Women shop at Mehera Shaw because they love the feminine styles we create. Our natural fabrics and classic styles are incredibly comfortable and versatile. I feel women want clothes of quality and beauty but also clothing that clearly represents human interests. We are part of a world-wide community which supports the ideals of natural beauty and constructive business practices. Our clothes are a tangible, practical response to this need."
Mehera Shaw, begun in 1999, is a human-scale enterprise, using traditional artisan methods of manufacture--from hand printing techniques to treadle sewing machines. They maintain small-scale production to ensure both an artisan quality to all their collections and a respectable wage for village populations in North India. This type of production also enables workers pass on their heritage craft to future generations.
Mehera Shaw Designs is located in the Carr Mill mall in Carrboro, NC and on the web at: www.meherashaw.com.
